HOW MUCH TO FEED YOUR DOG?
A 1-lb container of dog food is about 3 cups of food after it is defrosted and fluffed.
The chart is a starting point to determine how much to feed your dog. In general, if you feed with Kibble, reduce the kibble and add Doggy Moma dog food for the remaining amount. You know best, so adjust as needed for your dog. Some things to consider: energy level, age, health, need to increase or reduce weight, and the amount of kibble they eat daily. You may need to increase or reduce the amount on the chart.
Doggy Moma recommends feeding your adult dog two times per day by splitting the daily portion into 2 meals. Doggy Moma food should be fed as a supplement to their kibble. However, if you only feed Doggy Moma dog food, you should give them a daily vitamin as there are no supplements or vitamins added to the Doggy Moma Dog Food. However, as should ALWAYS be the case, adjust the amount up or down as YOU determine best for your dog or consult with your Vet.
The chart was developed for Doggy Moma Food on the basis that Doggy Moma Dog Food is a supplement to kibble. You can put Doggy Moma dog food on top of their kibble, mix with kibble, or just keep the kibble and Fresh Dog food in two separate bowls, like I do.
My dogs, Biggio and Roskoe, each weigh 80 lbs. I feed Biggio, who is less active, a 1/2 container in the morning and the other 1/2 container in the evening. I feed Roskoe 1 container in the morning and 1/2 container in the evening. I always have a bowl of kibble out for them. They enjoy eating them separately. And, they both get a daily senior dog vitamin since they are more than 7 years old, plus Fish Oil as it makes their coat so very thick and shiny! Biggio needs to take a hip and joint supplement as well.

SUPPLEMENT KIBBLE, WHY?
The AAFCO organization has established minimum standards for some vitamins and minerals for dog food and maximums for just a few. Very costly tests are needed to determine if the minimums have been met for the AFFCO listed nutrients in every product. Then, continued testing is needed to prove consistency over time. Therefore, Doggy Moma dog food is identified as "SUPPLEMENTAL" which does not require these tests. But, it also means that, per AAFCO requirements, Doggy Moma dog food must supplement kibble which has been identified as "MAINTENANCE" or "ALL LIFE STAGES" on the label. Doggy Moma is a high quality food that dogs love! I encourage you to give your precious pet a daily vitamin as the minimums may not be all your dog needs. Doggy Moma offers Vet developed and approved supplements from Nutri-Vet on the home SHOP page. Nutri-Vet is an excellent supplement and it is reasonably priced. HOW TO INTRODUCE DOGGY MOMA DOG FOOD?
As with any change in dog food, you should transition slowly to a new food over several days. On the first day, add a small amount of Doggy Moma to their current kibble. Then, gradually provide more of Doggy Moma, and less of the current food, until your dog is eating the desired combination of kibble and Doggy Moma dog food. This slow transition helps to minimize dietary upset that can occur when switching foods.
A dog food with real cooked meat, veggies and wholesome rice can provide a healthy, delicious meal for your dog. If you have any questions about your dog’s diet, consult your veterinarian.

WHY GIVE SUPPLEMENTAL VITAMINS, MINERALS TO YOUR DOG?
I view dog supplements in much the same way as human supplements. I would never give a child an adult daily vitamin, give them extra iron, baby aspirin, or garcinia cambogia. Yet, I take all these for my specific needs! I also realize that not all adults need or take any, or even some, of these supplements. My supplement program is unique to me and my specific health needs. I want the same for all dogs and I believe the owner and their vet are the best people to make those choices for their beloved dogs; not Doggy Moma.
Personally, I am a firm believer in giving my dogs a daily multi-vitamin and additional supplements for their unique needs. After talking to their vet and spending hours and days researching supplements for dogs, I learned that a dog’s stage of life, their sex, their activity level, health conditions, and being neutered/spayed, will all influence both the type and quantity of vitamins and minerals they need. There are many varying guidelines and recommendations by suppliers and agencies concerning dog supplements, making it even more difficult to figure out what is really needed.
I intentionally excluded adding vitamins and mineral supplements into Doggy Moma Dog food due the lack of consistent and documented recommendations for dog food supplements. I believe the dog’s owner, either independently or in consultation with their Vet, should choose the BEST supplements for their dog. Each of my dogs have different needs and health conditions, and they get the supplements required for their specific health conditions, not just the minimum. I want to ensure the same for all dogs that eat Doggy Moma dog food by encouraging you to give your dog a daily vitamin and/or mineral supplement.
Talk to your vet or conduct your own research. But, please give them the right amount of supplements in a daily vitamin. They will love you for it by being healthier and happier.
