BiggioI named Biggio after the BEST and MY FAVORITE HOUSTON ASTRO, Craig Biggio!
Biggio was found by our daughter near a railroad track in College Station in February of 2010. He was just a puppy about 8 weeks old. There was not a house around, he was crying, and a gorgeous fluff of white! Needless to say, she fell in love with him and promptly gave him to her father. How could he say no to a new pet? He didn't. We had recently lost our dear Popcorn (our vicious and loving Dachshund), to old-age, so we were dog-less. Biggio and Dad became inseparable. Biggio went EVERYWHERE with him. If the store allowed pets, Biggio was going into the store. If not in the store, he was in the truck, running, with the a/c on. Dad had 2 sets of keys and as Biggio grew, he became quite protective. There was simply no way a stranger was getting in that truck with Biggio guarding it! Biggio developed hip issues at a young age, and had 2 hip surgeries. That was years ago, and while he can no longer go on long rides in the truck, and has to take pain meds daily, he is still our protector, and "The King" of our household. He is deeply loved by our entire family! |
RoskoeRoskoe is a "Moma's baby". Where ever I am, he is there. He simply can't get close enough to Moma. He is for sure my Little Boy!
He was a rescue puppy, and again, our daughter was involved in finding him a home. In 2013,he was found, with his siblings, in a black trash bag and rescued by a stranger. How sad is that! From spending lots of time at Grandma and Grandpa's, Roskoe and Biggio became great buddies in short order. And, in time, Roskoe too joined our family as a permanent addition. Roskoe looks a little on the fierce side to some people as they don't want to get too close. He is a lover and wants to play, although I know he would protect me to the end. He loves kids, but he loves Doggy Moma the best and is my constant companion. |
Thor
Thor, is named after the Mythological Greek god of Thunder, who was exceptionally strong and protected humans. There is even a movie about Thor (the god, not the dog). Our daughter adopted him in May 2018 and named him this because she knew from the start he was going to be her best friend and protector. Thor was a well-kept secret for a few months from Moma. Yes, our daughter got another dog, but this time to keep for herself. Thor's doggy mom was a Great Pyrenees and we have no idea who doggy daddy is, but we suspect he was a Great Dane. Thor's legs are SOOO long and he acts like a chihuahua, always wanting to sit in your lap. He has no idea how big he is! Never the less, he will always be "Baby" in our daughter's heart and eyes; and they are most definitely each other's best friend. Thor loves riding in the car, demolishing chew toys, and playing "run the fence" with his 2 small doggy friends in the yard behind him. Thor is also quite famous and well-known in Houston for his stardom in the play "Frankenstein". |
Bruce - Rest in Peace April 20, 2020
Bruce was the oldest family dog. Hence, he was "grandpa". He lived a great life and traveled a lot. Bruce died peacefully in his sleep at the age of about 14. Bruce was a rescue dog and my niece's best friend in the world! Bruce grew up with her from childhood to adulthood. I never saw a dog and girl with such a wonderful connection. Bruce loved the outdoors, camping, and in his later years, sleeping. He was well-behaved and listened to commands like a show dog. He also was a very good communicator. In his later years, when he was ready to call it a night, he expected everyone else to as well. He would go to his bed and bark to announce to all that it was officially bed time! Bruce was a special friend, he had a great life, and made special memories for my niece. |
